Nowadays, most Car stereo are either sealed or ported. Designs with passive radiators are classified as ported. When all other factors are equal, sealed subs have smaller cabinets than ported/passive radiator subs. Seal subs are seen to be tighter and better for music, whereas ported subs are thought to be better for movies and have more bass extension.
