It is a switch between two power sources in an electrical distribution system. One source is set as a primary power source, and the second one is kept as a secondary or alternate power source while connecting an automatic transfer switch (ATS).
When the primary power source is entirely available with a high voltage, ATS does nothing and keeps the power running in your electrical distribution system.
