American Airlines Basic Economy Passengers to Pay for Checked Bags

American Airlines Basic Economy passengers will now have to pay for checked bags, starting on June 7, 2023. Previously, Basic Economy passengers were allowed one free checked bag. The new policy will apply to all Basic Economy tickets issued on or after June 7, 2023, for travel to or from any destination. American Airlines is not the only airline that charges for checked bags on Basic Economy tickets. Delta Air Lines and United Airlines have also implemented similar policies.
