The Indian Express is an English language newspaper whose origins go back to the days of pre-independence India. The newspaper was founded by P. Varadarajulu Naidu in the year 1932, and it has grown to become one of the most well known English language news dailies today. The newspaper was launched at a time when there was no concept of free press in India, and this lack of press freedom was the inspiration for the foundation of The Indian Express as a newspaper that would tell the Indian story.
