Double carports or double-wide carports are metal carport shelters that are designed to cover two cars, trucks, or other types of vehicles. As a general rule, most carport manufacturers in the United States refer to their standard 18\’ wide to 24\’ wide units as double carports or 2-car carports. While these units start at 18\’ wide, we always recommend 22\’ wide x 24\’ wide units for two cars as they provide ample space to get into and out of the vehicle. An 18\’ wide unit is just enough room for two smaller cars and that may work for your current shelter needs but we recommend that you also consider possible upgrades to your vehicles in the future.
