2020 saw a modest slowdown in demand for food preparation appliances during 2020, with the rate of growth in retail volume sales decelerating to its lowest level in almost a decade. While COVID-19 had a positive impact on demand in one sense, as it led to local consumers spending more time at home and preparing more meals there, this was more than offset by the impact of a hike in the rate of VAT that was implemented in July.
