Lent 2023: Understanding Origins And Significance Of This Holy Period

Lent is a 40-day period of fasting, prayer, and penance that begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on Holy Saturday, just a day before Easter Sunday. It is a time when Christians reflect on their faith, examine their lives, and seek spiritual growth and renewal. While many people focus on fasting, giving up chocolate, or doing extra good deeds during lent, it’s important to remember that prayer is the heart of this season. During the period, we remember the sacrifice Jesus made on our behalf and we ask God to help us grow closer to him.
