The Mazda MX-30 e-Skyactiv R-EV debuted at the Brussels Motor Show in January 2022 and is the first plug-in hybrid car to use a rotary engine as a generator. Powering the Mazda MX-30 e-Skyactiv R-EV is an 830cc rotary engine powered by gasoline. This is mainly used to charge the battery, which powers the electric motor. Like a pure electric vehicle, the Mazda MX-30 e-Skyactiv R-EV wheels are driven exclusively by the electric motor.
